Copeland and Mysa Smart Thermostats Announce Canadian Partnership

Distribution agreement for smart thermostats broadens sustainability options for Canadian homeowners

BRANTFORD, Ontario (December 19, 2023) — Copeland, a global provider of sustainable climate solutions, has announced a partnership with Mysa that strives to make smart, sustainable thermostat technology accessible to every consumer in Canada.

Copeland, known for its award-winning Sensi smart thermostats, adds the complementary Mysa thermostat line to enable more Canadians with line-voltage (e.g. baseboard) heating systems to access energy savings and sustainability benefits. It also allows Mysa to leverage Copeland’s national HVAC/R and electrical distribution network, making its products more accessible to contractors.

“Mysa products are the perfect addition to Copeland’s lineup of Sensi smart thermostats allowing us to provide smart solutions for other types of heating systems,” said Ryan Garrah, vice president, Canada for Copeland. “This partnership helps further Copeland’s commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency by bringing our shared ethos to the Canadian market.”

Unlike non-connected thermostats, Mysa units enable homeowners to track energy use and estimate heating costs. A smartphone app can control a thermostat remotely, adjust the temperature when an owner’s phone enters or leaves their house, or send alerts when temperatures rise or fall outside a desired range. Mysa thermostats can also integrate with various smart home ecosystems, including Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa and Google Home.

“Mysa and Copeland are very aligned on the role of smart technology to help us move toward a more sustainable world,” said Josh Green, CEO of Mysa. “Smart thermostats can contribute to those goals in many ways, but many Canadian homes have line-voltage baseboard or in-floor heating systems that aren’t compatible with conventional units.”

According to a recent Mysa study, users may see up to a 17% energy use reduction when switching to Mysa smart thermostats from a traditional thermostat, depending on their region.
