How it works

Over two years, participants complete multiple rotations across locations, business units and product lines. Every rotation stretches capabilities and expands perspective. In two years, participants gain the kind of cross-functional exposure that often takes five or six years in a traditional path.

What makes the experience meaningful

Interns gain more than a line on a resume. They build relationships, expand skills and discover where their career could go. From meaningful work with measurable business impact to exposure to industry-leading technologies and sustainability-focused solutions, every experience is designed to accelerate growth.

Interns receive mentorship and coaching from leaders and subject matter experts, network across functions and business units, and participate in professional development workshops. They also get the opportunity to present their work to senior leaders, opening the door to future internships or entry-level salaried opportunities post graduation

Frequently asked questions

Is prior HVACR experience required?

No. Prior HVACR experience is not required. Copeland welcomes students from diverse academic and professional backgrounds who are eager to learn and contribute.

Is relocation required, and is housing support available?

Relocation support varies based on the role, program, location and business needs. If relocation assistance is available for a specific opportunity, details will be shared during the recruiting and offer stage. We encourage candidates to discuss any relocation or mobility questions with their recruiter.

What does the interview process look like?

The interview process varies by opportunity and business group. It is designed to evaluate skills, experience, interests and career goals.

For internships, candidates may complete virtual interviews and/or campus screening interviews depending on the school and recruiting process. Most interviews are behavioral, though some roles may include technical or functional assessments.

Accelerate candidates follow a more structured process including behavioral and case-based interviews. Case materials are shared in advance so candidates can prepare and present their approach to a business challenge. The focus is on problem-solving and communication, not a single right answer.

For early career full-time roles, the process typically includes a mix of behavioral and technical or role-specific interviews.

Can an internship lead to a full-time offer or Accelerate?

Yes. High-performing interns may be considered for future full-time roles, including the Accelerate program, based on performance, business needs and graduation timing.

Do I need to have been a Copeland intern to join Accelerate?

No. Previous internship experience is beneficial but not required. Former interns are encouraged to apply if the program fits their goals.
