Improving energy efficiency at vocational college
Challenge: Zaozhuang Vocational College in Shandong, China, needed to achieve energy-efficient climate control in a low-temperature, high-humidity environment. They required a reliable system capable of maintaining performance, reducing energy consumption, aligning with sustainability goals and ensuring operational efficiency.
Solution: Copeland, in collaboration with EUROKLIMAT, deployed 147 air-sourced heat pumps featuring DC variable speed scroll compressors. This system delivered over 30% energy savings, precise control, quick response and high performance, setting a new commercial heating efficiency benchmark.
Advancing cold-climate heat pump technologies with OEM partnerships
Challenge: Traditional heat pumps struggle in cold climates, requiring backup heat at low temperatures, which limits their efficiency and sustainability. The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Cold-Climate Heat Pump Technology Challenges aim to develop high-efficiency heat pumps that perform at temperatures as low as -15°F (-26°C), addressing this critical gap.
Solution: Copeland is partnering with leading OEMs, including AAON, to develop advanced cold-climate heat pump solutions. Leveraging DOE grants, Copeland is investing in R&D and expanding U.S. production capacity for heat pump compressors. These collaborations help enable OEMs to meet rigorous performance standards, driving adoption of sustainable heating technologies.
Heat pumps achieve higher energy efficiency
Challenge: The largest office of a U.S.-based search engine company in Bengaluru, India, hosting up to 1,000 employees, needed a system to generate 50,000 liters of hot water daily while addressing insufficient sunlight. The project aimed to align with green initiatives, reducing carbon emissions and energy reliance.
Solution: Copeland, with Bisineer Engineering, delivered a heat pump system integrated with solar heaters, including six 1,000 LPH heat pumps and a 50KL tank. Designed for India's climate, the GreenPro Certified system achieved higher energy efficiency than traditional systems.
